Redundant connection on remote SCADA system

The RTU2020 series features an innovative modular hardware design with the CPM control processor module plugged directly into the IOTA backplane module. The IOTA module is designed to accommodate only passive components such as wiring terminals and I/O expansion ports. I/O can be extended without additional components.


The RTU2020 is equipped with an advanced dual-core 667MH processor with the capabilities for today's applications and reserve capabilities for future needs.


RTU needs to ensure the reliability of data communication, even in low-bandwidth network applications. The RTU is generally used as a slave device and is redundantly connected to the remote SCADA system through two different media. However, RTU also needs to be used as the main station to communicate with local subsystems such as gas chromatographs and intelligent driving devices. The RTU2020 supports SCADA protocols (e.g., via two Ethernet ports and four serial ports, communication protocols such as Modbus and DNP3) for a variety of applications.

Honeywell's Asset Equipment Management Platform, FDM, manages the RTU2020 and its connected HART field devices through the HART-IP protocol.

The RTU2020's non-redundant controller is equipped with 28 fixed onboard I/ OS and supports the following I/O point combinations


Analog input AI (HART) 8 l

Pulse input (high speed) or digital input PI/DI 2


RTU Builder is an RTU2020 configuration tool that users can use to design, configure, program and maintain RTU.

In order to simplify the ordering process, RTU2020 limits the number of equipment models required for the supply of RTU complete machines. For example, for a single machine with 28 onboard I/ OS


Redundant RTU system Only one device model, SC-UCMX01, is required.
